TOP NEWS: IAG Traffic, Capacity And Load Factor All Climb In June

LONDON (Alliance News) - International Consolidated Airlines Group SA on Wednesday reported a rise in both traffic and capacity in June compared to the previous year.

The airline operator carried 10.6 million passengers last month which was an 8.9% jump from its 9.8 million passenger total in June last year.

The FTSE 100-listed company said its overall monthly traffic, which is measured in revenue passenger kilometres, had increased 9.1% to 25.0 million compared with 22.9 million in June 2017.

IAG's capacity, measured in available seat kilometres, grew by 5.4% at 28.6 million this June from 27.1 million last June. Its passenger load factor increased 3.1 percentage points to 87.4%.

IAG owns British Airways as well as Iberia, Vueling and Aer Lingus. Both Iberia and Vueling's traffic grew 11.5%, and Aer Lingus' traffic grew 11.4%.

British Airways lagged behind in terms of percentages with a 6.9% growth in traffic revenue but remains IAG's most profitable airline with traffic at 13.7 million from 12.9 million. This compares with Iberia, IAG's next largest airline, which recorded June traffic of 5.5 million from 4.9 million the year before.

Shares in IAG were up 0.2% at 664.40 pence on Wednesday.
