TOP NEWS: Haleon hails Sensodyne boost but total revenue down mildly

31st Oct 2024 09:34

(Alliance News) - Haleon PLC on Thursday noted a small decline in revenue led by Digestive Health, while its Oral Health products enjoyed popularity.

The Weybridge, Surrey-based consumer healthcare firm said organic revenue fell 0.6% to GBP2.78 billion in the third quarter of the year from GBP2.80 billion a year ago.

The revenue decline was driven by an 8.4% fall in the Digestive Health & Other category to GBP479 million from GBP523 million.

By contrast, Oral Health revenue rose 2.5% to GBP810 million from GBP790 million, while Respiratory Health picked up 3.9% to GBP456 million from GBP439 million.

Haleon highlighted sharp growth in toothpaste and mouthwash brand Sensodyne, especially in India, the US, the UK and Germany, while parodontax, another toothpaste and mouthwash brand, grew double-digit with strong performance in the Middle East & Africa and Europe.

"Oral Health was again a particular highlight, with organic revenue up high-single digit as Sensodyne and parodontax continued to drive growth. All three regions delivered volume/mix growth during the quarter, with North America showing the improvement we expected and China up strongly," Chief Executive Officer Brian McNamara said.

"We also made significant progress delivering on our capital allocation priorities - completing the disposal of our nicotine replacement therapy business outside the US, agreeing to increase our stake in our China joint venture, and completing our share buyback allocation for 2024."

Looking ahead to all of 2024, Haleon continues to expect organic revenue growth of 4% to 6% and organic operating profit growth in the high-single digit.

Haleon shares fell 2.8% to 363.00 pence each on Thursday morning in London.
