TOP NEWS: DS Smith Finance Chief Decides Against William Hill Move

26th Mar 2020 08:52

(Alliance News) - Adrian Marsh will not be leaving DS Smith PLC for William Hill PLC, the two said on Thursday, amid the Covid-19 disruption.

In mid-February, FTSE 250 bookmaker William Hill said DS Smith's Finance Director Marsh would be joining as chief financial officer later in 2020.

Marsh has been part of packaging firm DS Smith since 2013 and prior to that was director of Tax, Treasury & Corporate Finance at supermarket Tesco PLC.

However, due to "the current unprecedented circumstances", according to William Hill, he will now not be joining. William Hill is looking for another appointment with current CFO Ruth Prior to see out her notice period.

William Hill Chair Roger Devlin said: "Whilst we note the reasons for Adrian's decision, William Hill is focused on taking the necessary steps required in these unprecedented times to protect the interests of its stakeholders. We will provide an update in due course."

Miles Roberts, chief executive at DS Smith, added: "We are pleased that Adrian will be remaining with DS Smith, providing continuity and stability in this very important time."

William Hill shares were 1.4% higher on Thursday morning in London at 71.52 pence each, with DS Smith up 2.1% at 285.00p.
