TOP NEWS: Carnival's AIDA Suspends All US And Canada Cruises For 2020

5th Jun 2020 12:00

(Alliance News) - Carnival PLC on Friday said AIDA Cruises has suspended all cruises in US and Canadian ports for the whole of 2020 due to ongoing Covid-19 regulations.

Shares in Carnival were up 9.0% at 1,302.06 pence in London in late morning trading.

AIDA, Carnival's German subsidiary, said that while travel is gradually resuming in Europe the necessary "conditions for international travel to the USA and Canada are not currently in place".

For example, AIDA pointed out that Canadian cruise calls will not be possible until October end while the US has implemented "an entry stop for Europeans until further notice".

People whose cruises have been cancelled will be reimbursed for payments made to AIDA so far "in the form of a travel credit" plus a 10% bonus. Reimbursement is available on request.

"In order to support travel agencies in these challenging times, AIDA will pay out a liquidity advance. This is 10% of the credit value and will be transferred to the sales partner as soon as AIDA has issued the travel credit for the joint customer," said AIDA.
