(Alliance News) -Â Outsourcer Capita PLC on Thursday confirmed it has not received a takeover offer from CVC Capital Partners.
The Daily Mail late Wednesday said CVC is circling in on Capita with its shares down 80% so far this year.
CVC, one of Europe's largest private equity businesses which previously owned Legoland operator Merlin Entertainments, could face competition from a rival predator, the report said.
Capita on Thursday noted press reports regarding interest in the London-listed company from CVC, but said it has not received a takeover offer from the private equity firm.
Capita shares were up 9.2% at 32.05 pence just after midday in London on Thursday, the stock still the top performer in the FTSE 250.
