15th Aug 2019 11:30

(Alliance News) - Berkeley Group Holdings PLC declared Thursday a 20.08 pence per share interim dividend as well as proposing further special distributions to investors by the end of March 2020.

The 20.08 pence dividend will be paid in September, with the FTSE 100-listed housebuilder distributing GBP25.2 million through this means.

Combined with earlier dividends and share buybacks, Berkeley will have distributed GBP279.3 million through its shareholder returns programme during the 12-month period ending in September.

Berkeley also announced the next GBP139.7 million tranche of its shareholder returns programme will be delivered by the end of March 2020. This will also be undertaken through a mix of dividends and share buybacks.

The amount of this further shareholder return to be distributed as a dividend will be announced by the end of February 2020, the company said.

In December, Berkeley committed to paying GBP2.20 billion to shareholders over the next three years ending September 2021.

Back in June, Berkeley reported pretax profit of GBP775.2 million for its financial year that ended April 30, down 21% year-on-year.

Shares in Berkeley were 0.6% lower at 3,813.00 pence in London on Thursday, giving it a market capitalisation of GBP4.81 billion.
