(Alliance News) - Beazley PLC on Thursday announced the departure of Chair David Roberts by the autumn, when he will become chair of the Court of the Bank of England.
Roberts will replace Bradley Fried who served as chair from June 2018 to June 2022. "David will bring a welcome fresh perspective to court," said Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey.
"The Bank’s Court acts as the governing body responsible for setting the organisation’s strategy, budget and taking key decisions on resourcing and appointments. As chair of the court, Mr Roberts will be responsible for leadership of the court and ensuring its effectiveness on all aspects of its role," the UK government's Treasury department said.
Meanwhile, BoE Deputy Governor Dave Ramsden has been reappointed for a second five-year term, to last from September 2022 to September 2027, the UK government added.
London-based insurer Beazley said if it has not found a chair successor by autumn, senior independent director Christine LaSala will become interim chair. She joined the firm's board in 2016 and has been chair of the remuneration committee since March 2021.
Beazley shares fell by 1.0% to 481.40 pence each in London on Thursday afternoon.
