TOP NEWS: Aviva Shakes Up Management Team, UK Insurance Chief Departs

24th Apr 2019 08:25

LONDON (Alliance News) - Aviva PLC announced Wednesday a shake-up of its senior management team, including replacing its UK Insurance chief executive officer.

Andy Briggs will step down from his role as Aviva's UK Insurance CEO, and from the company's board, with Chief Risk Officer Angela Darlington taking up on the role on an interim basis. Briggs is expected to remain with Aviva until October to "support an orderly transition".

In a statement, Aviva said: "Under Andy's leadership Aviva has made substantial progress in the UK over the last four years, integrating Friends Life and consolidating its position as the UK's leading insurer. With Andy moving on, [Group CEO] Maurice Tulloch will lead a review of the UK businesses to ensure the appropriate management structure to build on that success for the future."

Tulloch was appointed CEO of the FTSE 100-listed insurer in March this year from the International Insurance CEO role. Aviva has now decided not to seek a replacement for the position and instead bring its Canadian and European CEO's onto the company's senior leadership team.

Colm Holmes, CEO of Aviva Canada and Global Corporate & Speciality, and Patrick Dixneuf, who becomes CEO of Aviva's European businesses and remains as CEO of Aviva France, will join Aviva's leadership team.

Tulloch said: "These appointments are an important first step to bring greater energy, pace and commercial thinking to Aviva."

Shares in Aviva were down 0.4% Wednesday morning at 423.90 pence each.
