(Alliance News) - Anglo American PLC on Thursday reported a slight recovery in diamond sales cycle-to-cycle, but the figure was down substantially compared to a year before.
For the eighth cycle of 2019, the miner's De Beers unit reported diamond sales at USD295 million, up 2.7% from the actual USD287 million in the seventh cycle, but down 33% from USD482 million the same cycle a year before.
"As we approach what is traditionally a quieter time of year for the diamond industry during the Diwali holiday, we have again offered our customers flexibility during this sales cycle," said Bruce Cleaver, chief executive officer of De Beers.
