Top Level Domain Signs Contracts For Six More Domains

LONDON (Alliance News) - Top Level Domain Holdings Ltd Friday said it has signed contracts with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers for five new top-level domains, while its German unit has signed a contract for a German state domain.

The company, which buying up domain names ahead of changes to rules governing domain names that will allow far more names than has been allowed up to now. ICANN has only allowed a relatively small number of domains until now, like .com, .org and .gov.

In a statement, Top Level Domains aid it has signed contracts with ICANN for .horse, .cooking, .casa, .fishing, and .budapest. Its subsidiary Minds + Machines GmbH has also signed a contract for .nrw, which will serve Germany's largest state, North-Rhine Westphalia.

"All six applications will now progress to pre-delegation testing, the final step before delegation into the Internet's root zone," the company said in a statement.

Top Level Domain Holding currently has interests in 25 non-contested applications, of which contracts have now been signed with ICANN on eight. It said it is continuing to progress the contested applications in which it has an interest.

The company's shares were up 9.2% at 17.6 pence Early Monday, one of the biggest gains on AIM.
