(Alliance News) - Thor Explorations Ltd on Wednesday reported "further positive drill results" at its Guitry gold project in the Ivory Coast.
The Vancouver, Canada-based mining company, focused on West Africa, said it is "encouraged" by progress at the fully-owned project, as it reported additional assay results following maiden results reported back in July.
The additional results include eight metres grading at 14.54 grams per tonne of gold from 114 metres, four metres at 10.68 grams per tonne of gold from 81 metres and 7 metres at 5.32 grams per tonne of gold from 155 metres.
These results relate to drill holes GURC25-232, GURC25-234 and GURC25-212 respectively.
Thor Explorations said it completed an initial 3,000-metre reverse circulation drilling program at the project during May and June this year. The purpose of this, said Thor, was to improve its understanding of the geometry and geological controls on gold mineralisation "based on a new interpretation of the historic drilling results."
Shares in Thor Explorations rose 2.8% to 53.44 pence at around midday on Wednesday in London.
"We are extremely pleased to report further positive drilling results from our maiden drilling campaign in Cote d'Ivoire. Our drilling has continued to successfully intersect high grade mineralisation at depth at Guitry, which prior to our ownership, was characterised by numerous gold-in-soil geochemical anomalies that had only been partially drill tested with shallow drilling," said Chief Executive Segun Lawson.
"We look forward to returning later this quarter following the rainy season to continue the next phase of drilling and working towards our target of a maiden resource in Cote d'Ivoire before the end of the year," added Lawson.
