LONDON (Alliance News) - Thomas Cook Group PLC on Wednesday said it has appointed the former chief financial officer of Avon Products Inc and SABMiller PLC to its board.
Jamie Wilson joins the travel agent with immediate effect as a non-executive director, having been executive vice president and CFO of direct selling company Avon, as well as CFO of brewer SABMiller.
Wilson joins Thomas Cook's audit and health, safety, & environmental committees.
"Jamie brings a strong track record of financial leadership along with experience of delivering complex change and efficiency programmes," said Thomas Cook Chair Frank Meysman.
Earlier this month, the Financial Times reported "mounting concern" around Thomas Cook's ability to service its debt after at least one lender sold its loan to Thomas Cook "at a highly distressed price".
Thomas Cook, however, said on May 3 it has maintained a "healthy level of liquidity headroom" and is in discussions with lenders to makes sure it can maintain an appropriate buffer for liquidity.
Shares in Thomas Cook closed down 2.6% at 22.99 pence on Wednesday and are down 25% so far in 2019.
