LONDON (Alliance News) - The People's Operator PLC Wednesday said its launch in the US has gone well and that trading in the UK is continuing to grow.
The cause-based mobile virtual network operator said that as at September 15, the company has 47,500 UK subscribers, up 58% since May 12.
Meanwhile in the US, The People's Operator said it is very encouraged by its early results since its launch in July, adding that it has secured 5,000 commitments to subscribe.
The company added that its beta-social network also went live in July and currently has over 17,000 users and 79 causes including Save the Children, World Wildlife Fund and WaterAid UK.
"Our UK operations continue to grow apace, and we are pleased that our subscriber statistics outperform the accepted market norms. The US launch has been well-received, and we are encouraged by the high level of interest shown in these early days. We are confident that this strong development will continue during the remainder of 2015 and in to 2016," Chairman Jimmy Wales said in a statement.
"We are also pursuing a number of exciting initiatives that we expect to make a significant contribution commercially, financially and strategically. The US launch serves as a reminder that TPO has a product that is relevant in numerous geographies," he added.
Shares in The People's Operator were untraded on Wednesday, last trading at 125.00 pence.
