(Alliance News) - Thames Water Utilities Ltd on Wednesday announced the appointment of Severn Trent PLC Chief Customer Officer Sarah Bentley as its new chief executive officer.
At Severn, also a water utility firm, Bentley is "responsible for customer retail and network operations, group technology and transformation" in her role as chief customer officer. During her time at Severn, Bentley "led the transformation" of its digital customer experience and created "a fundamental shift in the company's leakage performance".
Bentley will join Thames Water in autumn 2020. Until then, Ian Marchant will continue as interim executive chair before reverting back to chair once Bentley joins.
Prior to joining Severn Trent, Bentley was managing director of Accenture's UK & Ireland digital business unit. She was also CEO of private equity-backed firm Datapoint.
Bentley will receive a GBP750,000 annual salary, as well as a pension allowance at 12% of salary. Thames water has also agreed to compensate her for surrendering potential Severn Trent bonuses and incentives, amounting to an estimated maximum of GBP3.1 million.
Shares in Severn Trent were up 2.5% at 2,370.00 pence in London on Wednesday morning.
