Tesco To Give In-Store Staff Pay Rise Above National Living Wage

LONDON (Alliance News) - Tesco PLC on Tuesday said it will give its UK in-store employees a pay rise of up to 3.0%, taking the hourly rate of pay to GBP7.62 an hour.

The pay increase, which comes in above the soon-to-to-introduced National Living Wage of GBP7.20 an hour, will come into effect on July 3 and will apply to members of staff of all ages.

In addition, the UK's biggest retailer said all employees will receive time and a half for Sunday and bank holiday shifts from July this year.

Shares in Tesco were trading down 2.8% at 166.95 pence on Tuesday afternoon.
