Tekcapital's Lucyd Files New Bluetooth Glasses Patents And Trademark

17th Dec 2019 15:16

(Alliance News) - Tekcapital PLC on Tuesday said portfolio company Lucyd Ltd has filed five new patents and a trademark on its Bluetooth audio glasses.

Shares in Tekcapital were up 4.4% at 5.48 pence in London in afternoon trading.

Lucyd is a wholly owned portfolio company of UK intellectual property investor Tekcapital and develops and operates an online store for "tech-enhanced eyewear". The latest patents and trademark pertain to Lucyd's forthcoming "Lucyd Loox" line of Bluetooth audio glasses.

The patents cover the Lucyd Loox line, which will have Bluetooth features and allow users to change the style or lens functionality of the glasses.

Lucyd plans to implement a glasses-as-a-service system, where customers can update their glasses with new front plates - the front plate being the front of the eyeglass frame - for a monthly fee. The new glasses line is to launch in the first half of 2020.

Tekcapital Executive Cahir Clifford Gross said: "We are glad to see Lucyd continue its innovation in the tech-eyewear industry with its novel, modular Bluetooth eyewear system. We believe their new development in tech-eyewear can result in increased recurring revenues and enhanced customer acquisition and retention for Lucyd, similar to other [software-as-a-service] businesses."
