(Alliance News) - Tekcapital PLC on Wednesday said its unit Guident Ltd has secured Notice Of Allowance in the US for its patent application and made changes to its leadership team.
Guident is an autonomous driving safety firm.
The intellectual property investment company said the United States Patent & Trademark Office has found that Guident's patent application titled "Methods and Systems for Emergency Handoff of an Autonomous Vehicle" meets all the requirements for patent approval. The company added that Guident has filed another patent titled "Intelligent Remote Monitoring and Control of Autonomous Vehicles."
The approval by the US regulatory authority brings Guident's intellectual property portfolio to five properties, four of which have been approved.
Separately, Tekcapital said Guident has hired Harald Braun as chief executive & chair. Braun was previously chief executive of Siemens Networks USA and NASDAQ-listed microwave networking solutions provider Aviat Networks.
Current board member Daniel Grossman has been named chief revenue officer. He served as chief operations officer at vehicle manufacturer General Motors Co and vice president at car-sharing company Zipcar.
"We are very pleased to report our development progress in strengthening the team and the intellectual property of Guident. We believe autonomous, land-based delivery drones will likely be implemented in several markets in the US and elsewhere in 2021 and we are readying the company to provide patented software and remote monitoring and control services to enhance the safety of these vehicles and enable them to comply with local laws," said Braun.
Tekcapital shares were trading 47% higher at 12.70 pence each on Tuesday afternoon in London.
