LONDON (Alliance News) - Tekcapital PLC Tuesday said it has acquired the exclusive worldwide license to a portfolio of 13 optical technology patents from the University of Central Florida, which are suitable for augmented reality applications and could therefore support a wide range of consumer, medical, military and industrial applications.
The patents enable the development of new, small form, lightweight and see-through high-resolution, head-mounted projection displays with eye tracking, it said, are are designed to be incorporated into many existing optical systems such as head-mounted displays, as well as having potential use in future wearable devices.
"The directors of Tekcapital believe this technology portfolio represents an important IP opportunity with the potential for market adoption across multiple sectors via out-licensing," it said.
The intellectual property company will issue the University of Central Florida with 479,060 shares as payment for the portfolio.
Its shares were down 2.1% at 21.29 pence Tuesday morning.
