29th Oct 2020 10:10

(Alliance News) - TBC Bank Group PLC on Thursday said it has promoted Giorgi Megrelishvili to the role of chief financial officer as well as deputy chief executive & CFO of its main subsidiary JSC TBC Bank.

Megrelishvili joined the FTSE 250-listed lender as deputy CFO in March. Before joining TBC, he was director, head of capital risk & stress testing at Natwest Markets NV in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Prior to that, he worked at Barclays Bank PLC for 11 years, during which he held various senior positions across Barclays' treasury and finance functions.

TBC stated that following Megrelishvili's appointment, Giorgi Shagidze has stepped down as deputy CEO of the bank and group CFO but noted he will stay with TBC Bank until the end of the year in an advisory role to ensure a smooth transition.

"I would like to congratulate Giorgi Megrelishvili on his new role and wish him success as group CFO. He has very valuable skills and experience and has already become a great addition to our team and the company. We look forward to having a long and successful journey together. I would also like to thank Giorgi Shagidze for his tremendous contribution towards the development of our company during the past 10 years and wish him all the very best with his future endeavours," said TBC CEO Vakhtang Butskhrikidze.

Shares in TBC Bank Group were trading 3.8% lower at 891.00 pence each on Thursday morning in London.
