TalkTalk Fears Significant Breach Of Customer Data In Cyber-attack

23rd Oct 2015 05:15

LONDON (Alliance News) - Police have launched a criminal investigation following a "significant and sustained cyberattack" on the TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC website Wednesday, the UK company said.

While an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit is ongoing, the phone and broadband provider says there is a chance that data such as TalkTalk account information, Credit card details and/or bank details and personal information may have been accessed.

BBC News quoted Dido Harding, chief executive of the TalkTalk group, as saying that its website was now secure again and TV, broadband, mobile and phone services had not been affected by the attack.

The company hopes to restore the TalkTalk sales website and the "My account" services on Friday. TalkTalk, which has over four million UK customers, said it fears the cyber attack could affect all of its customers.
