SyQic Extends Deal With Streaming Service Viki

9th Mar 2015 07:48

LONDON (Alliance News) - SyQic PLC on Monday said it has extended its contract with streaming service Viki to launch the Cool2Vu platform in Europe, South America and Central America.

The pair signed a deal in February for Viki to make its shows available via SyQic's Cool2Vu platform in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. The new agreement expands that deal to include Europe, South America and Central America.

Under the original agreement, content is provided to SyQic free of charge until SyQic includes it as part of a paid for subscription service when a revenue sharing arrangement will be introduced, the company said. SyQic said this allows it to generate advertising revenue from Viki's content without a cost to SyQic.

SyQic did not provide any financial details on the expanded agreement.

"We are delighted to be rolling out cool2vu, our Korean themed entertainment service, rapidly into new continents and certainly well ahead of our original strategic plans," said SyQic Chief Executive Jamal Hassim.
