LONDON (Alliance News) - Sutton Harbour Holdings PLC said Tuesday that there is no prospect of the former Plymouth Airport site ever re-opening.
The firm said that five tests created by Plymouth City Council have not been met more than 18 months after being set.
It is now more than two years since Plymouth City Airport was closed. Sutton Harbour said, "not one of the ?five tests? set by Plymouth City Council for the private sector to come up with a workable plan to reopen the airport has been met, and not a single credible business proposition has been put forward."
The firm said two new studies by international aviation experts Fjøri and acoustic consultants Bickerdike Allen Partners have highlighted the extent of the economic, legislative and physical barriers to a commercially sustainable airport operation ever being re-established at the former Plymouth airport site.
A plan submitted by campaign group 'Viable,' has now also been dismissed by the company as a, "totally unrealistic GBP40 million dreams that would see scores of homes and businesses demolished."
Shares in Sutton Harbour Holdings were trading down 1.25% at 23.7 pence per share Tuesday morning.
