Surgical Innovations Notes CE Mark For Distalmotion's Dexter Device

8th Jan 2021 11:27

(Alliance News) - Surgical Innovations Group PLC on Friday announced Swiss medical device company Distalmotion SA's surgical robot device Dexter has received a European CE mark.

Elemental Healthcare Ltd, a subsidiary of the Leeds, England-based surgery device manufacturer, has exclusive UK distributions rights for the Dexter robot, which has been designed to integrate into existing laparoscopy procedures to make robotics accessible for a wider range of minimally invasive surgeries.

"The regulatory approval of the Dexter operating robot now allows the introduction of a disruptive robotic model to UK healthcare. The ease of use, affordability and Swiss manufacturing excellence will be significant factors in the growth opportunity for this new robot," said Development Director Adam Power.

The CE mark means that the test meets EU standards and can be sold in countries accepting the mark. Surgical Innovations said the European CE mark will remain valid in the UK post Brexit.

Shares in Surgical Innovations were up 2.8% at 1.85 pence in London on Friday.
