Superdry hires former Helly Hansen CEO Peter Sjolander as chair

26th Apr 2021 08:58

(Alliance News) - Superdry PLC on Monday said it has appointed Peter Sjolander as chair and independent non-executive director effective from Thursday.

The Cheltenham, England-based fashion chain said Sjolander will replace Peter Williams, who will step down on the same day.

Sjolander has held many senior advisory and non-executive roles, in which he advised brands and digital consumer businesses within their portfolios, and oversaw growth and successful technology implementations.

He also worked as chief executive of Norwegian clothing retailer Helly Hansen between 2007 and 2015, where he helped the company transition from being a business focused on its local Scandinavian markets to a globally recognised brand.

"Peter has a tremendous track record of driving value creation and is a true digitally-focused brand leader. The turnaround of Helly Hansen that he led when he was CEO, building a globally recognised brand with significant e-commerce revenues, was highly impressive, and through his work with leading global brands such as Nike, he has accumulated fantastic brand, digital and international experience, all of which will be invaluable as we emerge from the challenges of Covid and accelerate the reset of Superdry," said Superdry Founder & CEO Julian Dunkerton.

Shares in Superdry were up 2.3% at 293.49 pence in London on Monday.
