Superdry Extends Contract Of Chief Executive Dunkerton To April 2021

14th Oct 2019 08:31

(Alliance News) - Clothing retailer Superdry PLC said Monday the contract of interim Chief Executive Officer Julian Dunkerton has been extended to April 2021.

With immediate effect, Dunkerton's title will now be chief executive officer. Dunkerton was appointed as interim CEO in April 2019, after narrowly being voted in by shareholders.

Dunkerton had originally stepped down from being CEO in 2015 after co-founding the company in 2003. He remained as a product and brand director but stepped down in 2018.

Superdry said the extended contract reflected the board's "unanimous" view that Dunkerton lead the company through its turnaround phase. Meanwhile, Superdry's nomination committee will continue the process to fund a long-term successor.

"The board is delighted that Dunkerton has agreed to continue in the role as CEO through to April 2021. Julian has a clear vision and his creativity, ambition and leadership will be crucial for the turnaround of the business. As interim CEO, Julian has already been working closely with the team to execute this plan and while much remains to be done, the necessary foundations are being laid. I am looking forward to working alongside Julian during this period as we seek to identify his long-term successor," said Chair Peter Williams.

Shares in Superdry were down 1.1% at 427.99 pence on Monday in London.
