Sunrise Resources Frustrated As Regulator Delays Mine Permitting

4th Dec 2019 11:24

(Alliance News) - Sunrise Resources PLC on Wednesday reported a "frustrating" delay in permitting for the CS pozzolan-perlite project in Nevada.

The delay has been caused by the late introduction of some extra information reporting requirements by the lead regulator, the US Bureau of Land Management.

As a result, alongside the upcoming holiday season, Macclesfield-based Sunrise does not expect permitting for the mine until early 2020.

Executive Chair Patrick Cheetham said: "Whilst any delay outside of our control is frustrating, all other aspects of the Bureau of Land Management permitting are now at an advanced stage and this delay is not expected to materially impact the company's production planning.

"From this point forward we expect to be in a position to provide more regular updates on progress as we enter the final and public stages of mine permitting. In the meantime, the company continues to progress discussions with likely offtake customers and continues to be encouraged by the growing interest in our pozzolan and perlite products."

Perlite is used in the construction sector, helping create building materials such as concrete, while pozzolan is also used in cement and concrete.

Shares were 0.9% lower on Wednesday morning at a price of 0.11 pence each in London.
