Sula Iron & Gold Unaffected So Far By Ebola Virus Outbreak

6th Jun 2014 09:09

LONDON (Alliance News) - Sula Iron & Gold PLC Friday said none of the staff at its Ferensola Project in Sierra Leone had been affected by the Ebola virus outbreak that is mainly afflicting the east of the country, and it is not aware of any cases in the region surrounding its project.

"We are monitoring the EVD situation very closely and are ready to act should the current risk assessment warrant new action from our company," Chief Executive Nick Warrell said in a statement.

Earlier this week, London Mining PLC said it had evacuated "non-essential" staff from its operations in Sierra Leone in response to the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus. However, this didn't impact production at its Marampa mine.

African Minerals Ltd and Golden Saint Resources Ltd said Thursday that their operations and workforce in Sierra Leone have been unaffected by the outbreak.

On Tuesday, there were roughly 50 suspected cases in Sierra Leone and five people had died, after the outbreak started in neighbouring Guinea, where it had killed over 100 people.

Sula Iron & Gold shares were up 0.6% at 2,465 pence Friday morning.
