STV Secures New BBC Orders For Its Antiques Road Trip Shows

27th Jan 2020 12:46

(Alliance News) - STV Group PLC on Monday said it has secured orders from the BBC for a total of six new series for its Antiques Road Trip and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip television shows.

The television channel said the BBC has ordered four new series of Antiques Road Trip for BBC One, and two new series of the celebrity version Celebrity Antiques Road Trip for BBC Two.

Antiques Road Trip is a show that sees antique experts travel across Britain searching for antique treasures at bargain prices in the hope of selling them at auction for a profit.

The six new series - 140 episodes in total - will air over the next two years.

The 2019 series of Antiques Road Trip reached 18 million people in the UK on BBC1, with series 19 delivering an audience that was 37% up on the slot average, said STV adding that Celebrity Antiques Road Trip is a top 20 show for BBC2 with an average audience of over 1.5 million.

"I'm delighted by the BBC's commitment to this long running and much loved brand. Antique's Road Trip and Celebrity Antique's Road Trip are the engine room to our production company and I'm thrilled to be leading them into this next phase of their production life cycle," said recently-appointed factual creative Director Craig Hunter.

In a separate statement, STV said that it has hired John Redshaw as daytime executive producer and Lucy Hazzard as director of development.

Redshaw has held senior roles on programmes such as Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother, The Only Way is Essex and I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. Hazzard was involved in producing Channel 4 series One Born Every Minute and Inside Birmingham Children's Hospital.

"Lucy and John are two fantastic appointments to our growing factual team. This is a hugely exciting time for STV Productions and we continue to attract some of the best talent in the industry to our growing team," said Managing Director of STV Productions David Mortimer.

Shares in STV were up 1.7% at 421.00 pence each on Monday afternoon in London.
