Stratex International Receives Government Approval For Dalafin Project

26th Mar 2018 09:54

LONDON (Alliance News) - Stratex International PLC said on Monday the Senegal government has approved its option deal with IAMGOLD Corp subsidiary AGEM Senegal Exploration Suarl for the Dalafin gold project.

The AIM-listed gold-focused exploration and development company said it now intends to start fast-tracked exploration at the site. The work will be centered on the southernmost Madina Bafe prospect, located 12 kilometres to the west-southwest of IAMGOLD's Boto project.

Stratex International said that the programme will look to prove the continuity of high-grade mineralisation at depth and along strike, with the intention of developing resources for either a stand-alone deposit or a satellite deposit for Boto.

The group also said that it plans to extend the exploration to other licence areas, including Fare prospect, where the majority of work to date has been focused.

Stratex Chief Executive Officer Tim Livesey said: "We are delighted to have had this agreement formalised so quickly by the ministry, enabling the work programme at Dalafin to begin in earnest. We look forward to working with IAMGOLD and to keeping our shareholders updated on ongoing developments at the project."

Shares in Stratex International were trading 26% higher at 0.85 pence per share on Monday.
