Stratex Finds More Gold Mineralisation Over Prospects At Dalafin

6th Jun 2016 07:06

LONDON (Alliance News) - Stratex International PLC Monday said it has found more gold mineralisation over two prospects within the Dalafin gold project in eastern Senegal and the company is now reviewing all of the data in order to plan further exploration in the area.

The producing gold miner holds an 85% stake in the Dalafin project and the company said mineralisation has been found at the Fare and Baytilaye prospects.

Infill soil sampling at the Fare prospect has extended the Fare South anomaly by "at least" 750.0 metres to the south-west and another anomaly to the east of the Fare prospect has also been identified extending to the north-west which is around 1,250.0 metres in length.

Outcrop sampling at the Baytilaye prospect delivered results including 1.6 grammes of gold per tonne from Baytilaye East. Baytilaye West delivered grades including 1.37, 1.23 and 0.92 grammes of gold per tonne of ore.

Styratex is now evaluating all of the data including the previous drilling results for the Madina Bafe prospect and said this was being conducted with a view to further exploration.

"These two targets, plus the wide zone of mineralisation previously identified in the Madina Bafe prospect, merit further investigation and ultimately will need to be drill-tested. Not surprisingly, given its location, in the heart of the gold-endowed Kedougou-Kenieba Inlier, our exploration is continuing to demonstrate the prospectivity of the Dalafin licence area," said Chief Executive Bob Foster.

Stratex shares were untraded early Monday morning, last trading at 1.90 pence per share.
