SSE To Sell Hampshire Data Centre To SCC for GBP12 Million

1st Oct 2014 09:38

LONDON (Alliance News) - Energy provider SSE PLC said Wednesday that it has agreed to sell its Hampshire data centre to independent IT group Specialist Computer Centres for an estimated GBP12 million.

A small number of employees will transfer to SCC, which is owned by Rigby Group PLC, as part of the disposal. The facility was operated by SSE Enterprise Telecoms, and the sale will allow this business to focus on its growing network business, SSE said.

"SSE PLC is continuing its business simplification programme, which will secure proceeds and debt reduction estimated to total around GBP1 billion and ensure SSE PLC's resources are fully focused on its core purpose of providing the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way," said Finance Director Gregor Alexander in a statement.

Shares in SSE were trading down 0.3% at 1,542.05 pence Wednesday morning.
