LONDON (Alliance News) - Online sports gaming and entertainment company Sportech PLC Friday said it has entered into an agreement through its joint venture with NYX Gaming Group Ltd, to provide a new online gaming platform to the Atlantic City-based Resorts Casino Hotel.
Last year, the company entered into joint ventures with NYX Gaming Group and Picklive US to focus on the emerging iGaming and fantasy sports markets, and enhance its product range in the US.
The SNG Interactive joint venture with Las Vegas-based online gaming platform and content supplier NYX Gaming was set up to provide online gaming products, while its joint venture with Picklive was established to develop new fantasy sports games targeting the US market.
In a statement Friday, the company said that both Sportech and NYX Gaming each will invest up to USD2 million in the joint venture for the Resorts Casino Hotel project, with the gaming platform expected to be launched by January 2015.
The new agreement marks the first initiative in Sportech's strategic aim to add an iGaming business division to its retail, telephone and online betting activities in the US.
Resorts Casino Hotel is the trading name of DGMB Casino LLC, an organisation in which Connecticut-based casino operator Mohegan Sun holds a minority shareholding.
The company said Mohegan Sun is an important existing customer of Sportech through both its casino-based racebook and racecourse betting activities.
Sportech shares were trading 0.9% higher at 85.25 pence Friday morning.
