Spire Healthcare To Work With CMA To Implement Final Orders

2nd Oct 2014 14:27

LONDON (Alliance News) - Private hospital group Spire Healthcare Group PLC Thursday said it will work with the Competition and Markets Authority to implement final orders for measures to increase competition in the private healthcare market.

The orders follow an inquiry into the private healthcare market. Spire said it welcomed the recognition "that there needs to be transparency of arrangements between hospitals and consultants, and supports the drive to establish an industry-wide Information Organisation to be the repository for quality indicators and measures."

Spire stressed that it believes its strong inspection results, high levels of patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes will show compliance against essential standards of 99.5%, beating a national average of 85%.

It also noted that it was pleased that National Health Service Private Patient Units have been included as providers of private healthcare.

Shares in Spire were trading down 0.8% at 290.00 pence Thursday afternoon.
