Spire Healthcare Cancel Plans For New Milton Keynes Hospital

31st May 2019 09:13

LONDON (Alliance News) - Private hospital operator Spire Healthcare Group PLC said Friday it had decided not to proceed with the development of a new hospital in Buckinghamshire.

Spire has reviewed the new hospital project in Milton Keynes - first proposed in July 2017 - and decided not to move forward with its development. Consequently, Spire has terminated its contract with the Milton Keynes Development Partnership which was working to develop the project.

The firm emphasised that the GBP3.6 million in costs associated with developing the site had already been written off in its financial 2018 results. Despite this, Spire had initially continued discussion with the Milton Keynes Development Partnership about the project.

Shares in Spire were 0.7% lower at 119.79 pence on Friday.
