LONDON (Alliance News) - Sphere Medical Holdings PLC Tuesday said it plans to launch Proxima, its in-line patient-attached arterial blood gas analyser, later this month.
The new miniature device aims to deliver rapid and frequent results at a patients bedside to enable faster response and more proactive critical care.
"Frequent measurement of arterial blood samples is a key component in the effective management of patients in the critical care environment, particularly those that are unstable," Chief Executive Wolfgang Rencken said in a statement.
"Proxima keeps the care giver by the patient, conserves blood and rapidly returns blood gas results to aid early decision making and closer control of therapy for critically ill patients - all of which ultimately improve patient outcomes," he added.
The device will be shown to delegates at the AAGBI Annual Congress 2014 between September 17 and 19, the company said.
Sphere Medical Holdings shares were quoted up 8.4% at 26.84 pence Tuesday morning.
