Sound Energy Finishes Drilling First Tendrara Well In Morocco

2nd Jun 2016 08:17

LONDON (Alliance News) - Sound Energy PLC Thursday said it has finished drilling the first Tendrara well in Morocco and identified a total gross pay of 89.0 metres as it prepares to test the flow rate of the well.

Sound said it is now setting the four-and-a-half inch tubing inside the well in preparation for testing after drilling the well to a total measured vertical depth of 2,665 metres.

"The company identified significant gas shows whilst drilling the reservoir and the full set of acquired logs will be now processed. The company confirms that a total gross pay of 89.0 metres has been identified," said the company.

Sound said the well hit the target reservoir at a depth of 2,535 metres measured vertical depth, which is 12.0 metres structurally higher than what was identified in the previous TE5 well. As a result, Sound believes it has successfully drilled the top of the structure and confirmed the geological depositional continuity of the sandstones within the area.

The rig that was used will now be demobilised and moved to the site hosting the TE7 well, which is prepared and on standby.

"Immediately after de-mobilisation, the company will proceed with the planned rigless operations to mechanically stimulate the reservoir followed by a well test," said Sound.

Sound shares were trading up 2.2% to 17.12 pence per share on Thursday morning.
