LONDON (Alliance News) - Software Radio Technology PLC on Wednesday said it has acquired rights to a US-registered patent covering the use of carrier-sense time division multiple access.
The time division multiple access system ensures optimal efficiency of available bandwidth allowing transmissions to be managed dynamically according to the loading of the system at any given time, Software Radio said.
Software Radio has acquired the rights to the patent from one of its original owners and is equal owner of the patent with Mark Johnson, one of the original patent holders.
"The TDMA radio system is the bedrock of the automatic identification system. Our joint ownership of this CSTDMA patent has secured Software Radio a fundamental stake in the ongoing development of the AIS technology standards as well as new commercial opportunities," said Software Radio Chief Executive Simon Tucker.
Shares in Software Radio were down 0.1% to 32.23 pence on Wednesday.
