LONDON (Alliance News) - Maritime communications company Software Radio Technology PLC on Wednesday said Qatar's Ministry of Transport has announced that all local vessels in the emirate will now have to be fitted with AIS transceivers.
Software Radio said that, following the mandate, it has received an order for AIS transceivers from its Qatar-based partner. It said the total mandate will cover up to 5,000 transceivers.
"We are pleased that the Qatari authorities have announced their AIS mandate and look forward to working with them and our regional partner as the mandate is implemented," said Simon Tucker, Software Radio's chief executive.
Shares in Software Radio were up 0.2% to 26.1701 pence on Wednesday.
