Smith & Nephew Names Finance Vice President Melling As Interim CFO

5th Mar 2020 09:06

(Alliance News) - Smith & Nephew PLC said Thursday it has appointed its senior vice president of Finance, Ian Melling, as interim chief financial officer with effect on April 30.

He will hold the role as CFO Graham Baker steps down from the medical technology group to take up the same role outside the healthcare sector, after three years since 2017.

Smith & Nephew said it is at an advanced stage of appointing Baker's successor and expects to announce a permanent replacement in the "near future".

Melling has been in his role at Smith & Nephew for four year since 2017, and has been part of the group for 14 years since 2006.

"Graham has been a highly valued member of our team and has been instrumental in many of the changes that are supporting our recent improved performance. He leaves with our very best wishes for the future," said Chief Executive Officer Roland Diggelmann.

In addition, Smith & Nephew has appointed Rick Medlock as non-executive director with effect on April 9.

The group also announced that non-executive directors Vinita Bali and Virginia Bottomley will both retire from their roles. Bali will leave at the end of 2020 after six years since 2014, and Bottomley at the annual general meeting in April 2021 after nine years since 2012.

Shares in Smith & Nephew were down 0.9% at 1,763.00 pence on Thursday in London.
