SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Reach PLC, up 5.1% at 111.04 pence, 12-month range 64.40p-344.22p. The Daily Mirror owner is poised to register a sixth-successive daily gain, with its stock boosted by M&A prospects again. National World PLC, a newspaper industry investor and owner of JPIMedia Publishing, on Thursday said it is in the "early stages of exploring a possible offer" for Reach.

DWF Group PLC, up 3.5% at 71.60p, 12-month range 67.05p-130.81p. The legal and business services firm strikes a deal to acquire Whitelaw Twining Law Corp in a deal worth up to GBP27.7 million. The buy of the law firm "is expected to be earnings enhancing in the first full year of ownership", DWF says.

Schroder UK Public Private Trust PLC, down 9.0% at 15.28p, 12-month range 15.02p-34.60p. Returns an 8.4% gain from Friday. On Friday, the trust announced a GBP1.1 million investment in clinical stage oncology company, iOncutura SA. Other investments in the firm's portfolio include Oxford Nanopore Technologies PLC and Revolut.
