Hochschild Mining PLC, up 18% at 90.20 pence, 12-month range 50.40p-95.55p. The silver and gold mining company, which has operations in North and South America, says the modified environment impact assessment for its Inmaculada operation in southwest Peru has received regulatory approval from Peru's National Service of Environmental Certification for Sustainable Investments. The MEIA is an important milestone for the company. It says it will pave the way for its flagship mine to generate significant additional value for all stakeholders over the next two decades. Chief Executive Officer Ignacio Bustamante says: "This approval represents a significant achievement for Hochschild and the Peruvian mining industry and demonstrates the government's commitment to confirming Peru's position as an attractive mining friendly jurisdiction."

----------

Lookers PLC, up 3.5% at 129.00p, 12-month range 59.70p-129.60p. The Manchester-based car dealership chain says Global Auto Holdings Ltd has 28.3% acceptances for agreed Lookers takeover offer, up from 8.8% on Tuesday. Global Auto is the bidding vehicle of Alpha Auto Group Holdings LP, a Toronto-based operator of auto retail dealerships across North America. Last week, the companies had agreed a 130p per share cash offer. It had previously offered to pay 120p per share for Lookers, which fell through after a major shareholder backed out.
