SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Card Factory surges on swing to profit

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Tuesday.

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Card Factory PLC, up 12% at 65.24 pence, 12-month range 38.60p-97.83p. The greeting cards retailer swings to annual profit in its financial year ended January 31, boosted by its online performance. Pretax profit stands at GBP11.1 million, versus a loss of GBP16.4 million a year ago. Revenue climbs by 28% to GBP364.4 million from GBP285.1 million. Online performance was "significantly ahead of pre-pandemic levels," as the firm expects its revenue to return to levels before the pandemic in the new financial year 2023. Trading in new year so far in line with its own expectations. Sees further revenue growth to over GBP600 million in financial year 2026.

Petrofac Ltd, up 4.4% at 140.99p, 12-month range 87.31p-194.99p. Berenberg raises the oilfield services provider to 'buy' from 'hold'.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

AO World PLC, down 4.0% at 73.00p, 12-month range 67.60p-277.62p. JPMorgan cuts the electrical goods retailer to 'underweight' from 'neutral'. Last week, AO World said it was cautious on the year ahead amid supply chain issues and a squeeze on consumer incomes. In addition, it said Founder & Chief Executive John Roberts will be selling a "small proportion" of his stake.

Marston's PLC, down 2.1% at 73.45p, 12-month range 63.18p-100.20p. Deutsche Bank starts coverage on the pub operator with a 'sell' rating.
