Setbacks at its body armour unit are continuing to hurt the protection equipment company. Goodwin PLC, down 5.2% at 3,280.00p, 12-month range 2,720.00p-4,000.00p. The Stoke-on-Trent-based engineer warns its Mechanical Engineering division has experienced "low levels of activity" due to customer approval delays. "This, coupled with navigating supply availability and increased energy costs (with there being a time lag before such costs can be passed on to the end users), has impacted both sales and profitability in the first six months of the year," Goodwin says. Revenue in the six months to October 31 rises 10% annually to GBP68.9 million from GBP62.6 million. Pretax profit improves by a third to GBP7.7 million from GBP5.8 million.
