SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Lookers, up 13% at 71.00 pence, 12-month range 16.58p-73.37p. The car dealer has issued a second profit upgrade in as many months, pushing shares back above pre-pandemic levels. The company sold over 44,000 new and used vehicles which, though down on 49,000 a year before, was combined with a resilient aftersales performance and strong control of costs. Says the board's expectation for underlying pretax profit for 2021 is now materially ahead of the current analyst consensus. Peer Pendragon was up 8.8% in a positive read-across.

Motorpoint Group up 1.5% at 262.60p, 12-month range 175.46p-315.13p. Car dealer says it delivered a robust volume performance in year to March 31, underlining the strength of omni-channel model and, the momentum and potential of its online channel. Says 68,000 vehicles were sold, including 25,000 wholesale units through Auction4Cars.com.

Deliveroo Holdings, down 0.5% at 284.88p. Berenberg starts coverage on the online takeaway firm at Hold.

Hyve Group, down 0.2% at 130.10p, 12-month range 47.45p-184.41p. The exhibitions and conferences organiser says travel restrictions remain in place across the globe, but took heart from vaccine rollouts in the UK and US. Hyve says it held 12 in-person events in Eastern Europe and Asia in the first half of its financial year. It expects revenue of GBP10 million in the six months to March 31, down 90% from GBP96.3 million a year earlier.
