SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Gym Group fighting fit; McBride falls

16th Dec 2021 11:14

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Thursday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Gym Group PLC, up 5.3% at 237.00 pence, 12-month range 190.00p-317.50p. The low cost gym provider is "trading in-line with market expectations". It notes a "strong recovery" in membership numbers, growing to 753,000 at the end of October from 547,000 in February. Membership wanes to 735,000 at November 30 but this is down to "seasonal norms".

----------

Bloomsbury Publishing PLC, up 6.0% at 352.00 pence, 12-month range 255.00p-405.00p. The London-based publisher seals the purchase of ABC-CLIO for USD22.9 million. The academic publishing firm, based in Santa Barbara, California has more than 23,000 titles in its portfolio. It generated USD14.7 million in revenue in 2020. "This acquisition is a good strategic fit," Bloomsbury says.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

McBride PLC, down 6.5% at 55.33p, 12-month range 52.15p-97.80p. The cleaning and hygiene product manufacturer warns price rises have now been "outpaced" by input cost increases. It now expects to report a chunkier adjusted loss before interest, tax and amortisation of GBP14 million to GBP17 million for the six months to December 31. In October, it had forecast a GBP10 million loss.
