SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Cairn Homes and Lookers differ on dividend

1st Jul 2021 11:12

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Thursday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Cairn Homes PLC, up 5.4% at 96.44 pence, 12-month range 93.00p-104.00p. The Irish housebuilder says it expects to post revenue of EUR131 million in half year to June 30, up from EUR81 million last year. Cairn is reimplementing its long-term annual dividend programme and expects annual dividends for 2021 and 2022 will be at a minimum level of EUR40 million each year and thereafter will be at a payout ratio of 40% to 50% of distributable profit. Expects to declare a 2.66 cent per share dividend at interim results in September.

----------

Headlam Group PLC, up 3.5%, 12-month range 235.00p-490.00p. The floor coverings distributor, which is holding its capital markets day on Thursday, says year-to-date continuing operations revenue is in line with same period in 2019.

----------

Senior PLC, up 3.3% at 156.40p, 12-month range 41.00p-160.60p. Peel Hunt raises the aerospace and defence components maker to Buy from Hold.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

Lamprell PLC, down 11% at 44.65p, 12-month range 19.30p-88.46p. Shares in the oil rig construction firm continue to decline after it cautioned earlier this week that it faces "severe liquidity constraints" and is deferring creditor payments to manage the problem. The stock is down 33% this week alone.

----------

Lookers PLC, down 1.0% at 70.00p, 12-month range 20.95p-74.45p. The car dealer says 2020 was a challenging year, dealing with both Covid-19 and legacy issues. 2020 revenue down 23% to GBP3.70 billion from GBP4.81 billion in 2019 but swings to pretax profit of GBP2.0 million from GBP45.7 million loss in 2019. Does not declare dividend due to the pandemic. "As we look forward into the second half of 2021 there remains some uncertainty driven by the ongoing impact of Covid-19 and notable supply restrictions in both new and used vehicles which have been tightening in recent weeks," it says.
