(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Friday.
----------
SMALL-CAP - WINNERS
----------
Argo Blockchain PLC, up 12% at 150.9 pence, 12-month range 3.41p-325p. The cryptocurrency miner signs crypto climate accord in partnership with DMG Blockchain Solutions to promote the decarbonisation of the cryptocurrency industry. "As more data continues to surface regarding Bitcoin and Bitcoin mining's impact on the environment, it's imperative that the industry takes real, tangible action," says Argo Chief Executive Peter Wall. Move comes after Tesla hit the brakes on letting people pay for electric cars with bitcoin, saying the computing-intense mining process of creating new cryptocurrency spews climate-harming emissions. "We are concerned about rapidly increasing use of fossil fuels for bitcoin mining and transactions, especially coal, which has the worst emissions of any fuel," Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk said in a tweet.
----------
Contango Holdings PLC, up 8.4% at 6.77p, 12-month range 3p-10.5p. The natural resource development company says "productive" site visit recently took place at Lubu with senior members of potential offtake partner in attendance. "Since the site visit discussions have continued to make good progress, with an agreement now reached between Contango and the potential offtake partner on the next steps to advance the project," it says. Given the "increasing likelihood" of a positive outcome with the potential offtake partner, Contango will shortly approve the appointment of a mining engineer.
