LONDON (Alliance News) - Sky PLC on Wednesday said its Sky Sports has won the exclusive rights to broadcast live Major League Soccer matches from the US.
The four-year deal will start in March, and Sky said it will allow fans to see how Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard perform when the pair respectively join LA Galaxy and New York FC in the summer.
Sky did not provide any financial details on the deal.
"Football in the US and Canada has enormous potential for growth and we can?t wait to bring this competition to our viewers for the first time. Thierry Henry has joined us, he created fantastic memories in MLS, and we look forward to seeing more of those great stories from across the Atlantic," said Sky Sports Managing Director Barney Francis.
Shares in Sky were down 1.0% to 994.50 pence on Thursday, one of the worst performers in the FTSE 100.
