LONDON (Alliance News) - Broadcaster Sky PLC on Thursday said it has signed a long-term pan-European licensing deal with US television network CBS Corp for its Sky Atlantic channel to exclusively carry programming from CBS's Showtime channel.
Sky had previously been licensing Showtime content on a programme-by-programme basis, but the new deal will give it access to all of the premium cable channel's shows.
"This is one of the most important content deals Sky has ever agreed, cementing Sky?s position as the market-leader in Europe for world-class drama," said Gary Davey, Sky's managing director of content.
Sky didn't say how much it is paying for the rights.
Shares in Sky were down 1.1% to 1,011.00 pence.
