Sirius Minerals Gets Planning Permission For Handling Facility In York

30th Apr 2015 09:29

LONDON (Alliance News) - Sirius Minerals PLC Thursday said it has received a "positive decision" concerning its planning application for its proposed materials handling facility at the York potash project in Teeside, north east England.

The handling facility will receive, handle, granulate and store the polyhalite produced from the York potash project.

The decision was made under delegated powers by the planning officers at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and is subject to a 'section 106 agreement' being finalised. Sirius said this is a normal part of the planning process.

There are two key application decision left to be made on the facility which concerns the 'straddling application' for the mine and the application for the harbour facilities.

"This is another important and positive step forward for the development of the York potash project and the many jobs and benefits it can deliver to the region," said Managing Director Chris Fraser.

Sirius shares rose by 4.1% to 12.62 pence per share on Thursday morning.
